Prom night 2009 + shopping spree

Awesome.
An awesome week had just passed.
I was so busy the past week that i felt very restless and uneasy staying at home for the whole day today.
First of all, i am glad to announce Exams are over!
As of 1 week ago, 30 November, A levels were over.
Sorry for bringing this news so late, i was too busy to blog.
But i guessed most of u knew it already.

Now that exams are over, guess what, shopping spree kicks in.
I think i spent a whooping 500 over sgd in just 1 week.
Yeah u heard it right, 1 week.
The financial outflow started on Tuesday.
Went out with ck for an unimaginable day of shopping.
It rekindled my joy of shopping.
Shopaholics for the win!
And on that merry day, my expenditure was slightly over a 100 bucks.
In return, i had 3 bags to go home with.
Ck and 1 combed the whole of orchard and the experience was simply out of this world!
When you have a great shopping buddy, shopping is magical.
We enter every shop we fancied, go crazy over the clothes, scream at the wonderful fabric creations, craved it, tried them, swipe the card, foot the cash and exit with a huge smile on the face.
Immense satisfaction from within.
We could walk for hours, one shop to another, one mall to another, go gaga again and again and
never felt like stopping.
The best part was, there are deals that come in pairs, ie buy 2 for a cheaper rate, and we were able to make away with these bargains as we got one each.
满载而归, as they say in chinese, that was how i returned  home that day.
If it wasn't for the fact that the shutters start going down at 10pm in Sg, it could have been more :)
I love shopping!
And i love Visa!
My UOB debit card garners me so many Discounts!

The next day, which was Wednesday, i attempted to repair my utterly disappointing phone.
I went down to Sony Ericsson service center at J8, waited for a good half an hour or more just to know that i need to pay a astounding $120 to repair my stupid phone.
What the hell?
With that money, i easily get a new phone.
This is retarded.
Fortunately, shum saved my day by granting me with 2012.
Yeah, i get to watch it finally.
Some parts were quite exaggerating, hence, causing it to be somewhat humourous.
But, as a whole it was good.
This was a Doomsday movie worth watching.
For it did leave a worrisome impression on me after the movie, especially towards the end where the vulnerabilities of human's were exposed.
Will the earth end in 2012?
I say, Nah, this is only a show for goodness sake!
And all the neutrinos crap are kind of like a load of bullshit, maybe the script writer could use global warming arising from human's excessive emission of greenhouse gases as the cause for the climate change, which would be more realistic, rather than some science-fiction that laymen could hardly comprehend.
Thus, enabling the writer to smoke his way into an apocalyptic scenario.

Following that, i went to 313 somerset to witness its opening on Thursday.
For your information, 313 somerset is a new shopping mall directly above Somerset mrt station.
Not bad, there were quite a number of trendy retail outlets in it, but too bad it wasn't fully in operation yet, ie there are parts that are still under renovation.
Next, i went to Orchard Central.
Have you been watching this advertisement where a guy and a girl kept running through a mall and one of them even climbed a rock wall like thing?
Yeah, this is it, OC.
Its just beside 313 somerset, obviously in the opposite direction as to where Cineleisure is.
The verdict, i didn't get to see the "rock wall", its not a rock wall actually but its something like that, and in addition, the place was more like a maze with nothing much to shop.
Do not go there if you are looking for clothes.
After that, i return to Ion where i finally laid my hands on Fred Perry!
Wahahaha, i finally owned a fred perry.
In exchange for the super "chio" polo tee was, guess what, $135.
Ouch! just like sacred relic.
That was the only purchase i had of the day as it single-handedly blew my budget for the day.
To make things worst, i was only 2 days away from my prom night and i haven got anything for that, yet i could be spending a bomb on a polo tee.
But its Fred Perry ok! Fred Perry!

I upload it on fb and ash was like "sian diao", i am so sorry ash.
For dinner, shum and I had some Teppanyaki which looked special but tasted average, yet the bill was Ouch! poor shum.

On Friday, i went Bugis to meet sebby for yet another round of shopping.
This time the focus was solely on prom clothes.
I spend 4 hours with him and ended at suntec empty handed.
He had to meet his friends and off i go on a solo venture.
Retarded enough, i returned to bugis to patronise a shop i entered earlier.
I tried a couple of shirts and stuff and managed to walk out with a shirt.
I wanted to buy more but the fitting room which was so bloody small and dark, and most importantly the shitty sales assistant which was such an asshole put me off.
His attitude was downright disgusting, there was no sincerity in his service at all.
He don't even appear to be interested in his job as he kept sneaking out of the shop to took at some commotion outside.
I am extremely irritated with is poor service, and in case some of you might had thought that this was at bugis street, you are wrong.
People who do shop with me knows what i hate bugis street and i hardly buy stuff from there, that place is just too crowded, noisy and messy, completely not conducive for shopping.
I was at a particular shop, which i shall not name, in bugis junction trying frantically to buy my prom attire.
Anyway, i was very disappointed with that shop as the quality of the shirt was horrible too, yet it cost me $42.90.
Unfortunately, i had to put up with these nonsense as time was running short.
Then i crossed over to Illuma to buy a pair of shoes, nice shiny black shoes.
The brand was rather unknown and the only reason i bought from there was because my bro gave me a 15% discount card to that shop, and i bought those shoes for only $25.40 in the end.
What a steal.

On Saturday, i had to wake up early to meet up with my usual gang to surprise aa.
It was a success and the experience of co-planning this surprise made me realise 2 things.
One, it allowed me to rediscover how hard it is to get people together to get things done and at the same time, how fortunate is it when you have an extremely helpful, cooperative and enthusiastic partner to assist through the whole "project" till the end.
Thank you.
Two, i got to know how nice people can be which was in this case out of what i had expected. Don't judge a book by its cover.
Immediately after the mini "party", i went straight down to amk hub.
Now now now, 2 shops under the same name, one offered such good service and the other such bad service.
I really should stop going to bugis, tsk tsk tsk, or if there is a way to give feedback, i would tell the boss i how disgusted i was with the employee and how much he should sack such a useless good-for-nothing worker.
And on the other hand, give the one at amk hub a raise, lol.
This girl was really nice, one that made the customer felt really comfortable shopping at the store.
You know, the kind that keeps a smile on the face no matter how many clothes the customer tries and rejects, give suggestions to what is suitable and what would look nice, she even picked a range of clothes for me to try as i was at loss to what i wanted.
In the end, i bought my pants for another $42.90.
But this time, i felt so much more willing to part with my money and so much more satisfied with my purchase.
Too bad, the vest was the last piece and it did not really match up well or i would have bought it.
Nonetheless, i went to another apparel retail outlet a few units away and i got my vest there.
There was this china lady who served me and she was a classic china saleswomen who would go all out to promote her stuff and say all kinds of sweet theories to ensure your purchase.
But the sad thing was she gave me a black face when i said "i would consider the bow-tie" i showed interest to, it was $25 for a freaking normal looking bow-tie la, wth, why should i buy when i might not really need it.
How can you show your customer a black face, although i always do that when i was a Cashier at Nutc Fairprice, but this really reflects badly on the store.
LOL, retribution.
Oh and this bloody vest cost me an omg 62 dollars, wa lao.
But, this marks the end of my prom shopping.
Finally, i bought everything i needed for prom.
And, it was on the day itself that i finished buying everything. lol.

I got home with all my purchases, took a rest and then hurried down to amk central to do my hair.
Went to this salon that i have never visited, cut, washed and styled my hair for $22.
The place was quite crowded and the air-condition was insufficient, thus, it was rather warm.
Nonetheless, i got my hair done and i rushed down to city hall to meet sebby and co.
Some ASK(act serious king) went so bloody early and made me think i was very late.
Tsk, make me panic and rush for nothing.
Got to city hall, waited for mr ting while we saw many familiar faces around who were also going for prom.
Then, much to the reluctance of a few we took a cab, which i insist on doing, to Carlton hotel.
How can we walk to the hotel all dressed up?
It will only mess up my dressing and put all the preparation i have done to waste as i may sweat and the wind and smoke from the road will crease and stink my clothes.
Furthermore, exiting from a cab or a car all dressed up and enter a hotel looks more grand a appropriate for the event.

The cab journey there was only a few turns away from raffles city taxi stand.
But its still worth it k!
I was holding a plastic bag where i kept my vest and i was very eager to find a toilet to transform.
Seb had to transform too but i did not want to use the level 1 toilet as everyone was there and its very embarrassing.
Thus, we found our way up to level 2 toilet where i hastily brushed off everyone i met on the way to avoid letting them take notice of the more unglamorous side of me.
Finally, we got there and "its morphing time!".
I got all dressed up to nines and was very pleased with myself.
Haha.
This was me last yr...

Super "sian diao", what kind of nonsense prom attire is that!
I am rather disappointed with myself too.
The lesson i have learned is that one should not buy an attire separately, cause in the end the "jigsaw puzzles" might not fit together.
I only realise that everything i have bought did not fit on the last day, thus resulting in a disaster last year where i had to forgo some of the stuff i bought.
This year i tried my best to keep the entire outfit in mind when i buy all my stuff, molding the image is of paramount importance.
Fortunately, it turned out to be sth i am quite delighted with.

Much better right?
Lol.
That was jun qiang on the left, took think pic cos i realised i did not have solo pics this year.
My bad for the orbs in the picture, i did not realise them until i uploaded the photos into the com the next day.
My hair was on purpose, yuan lin!
haha.
I specifically ask the hair stylist to get it all up and to the center as she was making me look like a porcupine when i told her spike was fine.

Prom this year was somewhat better then last year as it was not so much of a "closed door session" this year.
The organisers of prom 2009 included teachers and they tried to get everyone involved.
However, it was not fantastic either.
The prom king and queen were voted from a group of finalist who were self nominated.
I did not really agree with the final king and queen, but who cares anyway.
After prom, the SPs plus edward(whom we coincidentally met) met up and we went Clark quay.
Had quite an adventure there before settling down in some pub for a drink.
The chocolate martini i ordered was sweet and we chatted into the night.
Took night rider home after that which only cost me $3 of bus fare, that was a bargain as compared to a cab fare if i were to take a taxi home at 3am in the morning.
The midnight charge know no limits.

Moreover, the bus ride on NR1 goes to "my" bustop and the ride was quite fast too as the bus sped through the deserted night roads, thus, i shall take that home if i go clubbing in future.

On sunday, i went to downtown east for the first time this year.
Would be going soon again in a few days time, but this time i am going for my family's chalet.
Bbq-ed as usual, gathered, talked, eat.
It was quite a while since i last saw my cousins, aunties and uncles.

This is it.
One busy week on a spending spree.
Lets total up my expenditure.
tue-say 110
thurs- 135
fri- 42.90 + 25.4
sat- 42.90 + 62 + 22
----------------------
440.2
----------------------
Eh, not bad eh.
So much less than i expected.
I guess if i were to sum up my other expenses on food and drinks it would add up to 500.
Wow, i was expecting 600.
This looks better that i thought.
But this is still quite a sum, considering the fact that its half a thousand.
Ouch.

This is the end for this post.
Hope u had a good time reading.
Scott signs off.
