Breaking through its thorny husk and out comes the flesh.
Yellow soft and "smelly" resting on its bed.
A mouthful of it to taste the tropic's flair.
Want some durian?
Its in season now.
Its stench still lingers on my hands after 12hours since i consumed it.
So maybe u could say "U are as persistent as the durain's stench!" when u r trying to describe someone being very persistent.
Lol.
Happy (belated) birthday Yong yi!
The celebration yesterday was a delightful one.
Wasn't as boring as i had predicted, which was a good thing.
Haha.
I went late as usual, about an hour or two late.
They were playing basketball and i joined in.
Then, we went over to the soccer court to kick the ball.
So in short, the entire afternoon was spent on sports.
However, as boring as this may sound, it wasn't.
How boring can it be when one is doing something that one enjoys?
Moreover, the satisfaction doubles, triples, quadruples when ones gets to engage in an activity that one's entire group of best friends shares a common interest in.
A smile on the face, the heart and the soul is the end product.
After sports, as physically drained as all of us were, there were more fun lined up.
Met up with gary and wikit and went up to yy's hse.
Cy had brought his Nintendo Wii.
It was my debut attempt on this console.
Played boxing and bowling.
Highly engaging and entertaining as its a very interactive group video gaming console.
Then we went down to buy dinner and had dinner in his house.
After food was time for another of our favorite pastime.
Blackjack!
I used to be quite a big player, but, i suddenly felt "whats the point of winning your friend's money?"
So decided to go by 10cents and 20cents.
Miraculously, my humble approach made me the biggest winner.
I won a total of $10.10 at the end of it.
I would have to thank aaron the "generous" for contributing to a major part of my winnings in just a few rounds of me being banker.
The bigger(player) u get the harder u fall, thats something i learned since some time ago.
Following that was the cake.
Some of us went to prepare and tata, cake with 19 lit candles.
Happy birthday song, as cliche as it may be it never becomes obsolete.
Took pictures, cut cake, had cake and....
Called it a day.
As ordinary as this bdae celebration may seem, it was very special to me.
It made me realise that for an occasion to be a success, it does not depend on how grand or how special it is.
What really matters is that everyone who came felt truly happy throughout the entire episode and left feeling really tired but extremely contented.
Issn't that what a celebration should really be about?
To be happy.
Even a simple afternoon like just any other weekend worked its magic.
Its the gathering, the bonding thats important.
Hmm.
Like the chinese saying, 感触良多, thats how i felt.
One thing that didn't went really well was the part about the $$$.
Its always the root of evil.
lol.
I just realise how much was splurged on my bdae last yr.
It made me feel very uneasy.
To think of it.
Things that may seem like nothing to some may be a weight of gold to another.
While the majority might feel X amount of $ spent was acceptable, it maybe quite taxing on others.
I really didnt tot of the implications of my present last yr, i am so sorry.
I really feel i am so fortunate.
Well, maybe next time just a cake will do.
Or i was thinking...
When i grow older, when i am financially better as i start working, i would hold a party on my birthday instead of people planning sth for me.
It could be just an evening where everyone would just come over, have fun and bond together.
And what ever monetary cost of the party would be paid by me.
Like that, my friends will be happy and so would i.
Instead of making oneself the most important person on one's birthday, why dont one rather make everyone happy.
Like christmas, a day of giving.
To make others happy, one is also happy.
Then instead of receiving presents, i would give presents.
Hahaha.
Have fun people.
cw needs to head out now.
Scott signs off.
