My NS believes and principles

Some people think of NS as a hurdle they just have to struggle through in their life.
They are obsessed with the notion of O-R-D and they make a point to let the whole world know that ORD is all they care about.
They can't be bothered about anything in the 2 years of their services.
If possible, they will try their best to avoid everything and anything and take the easiest way out.
Towards the end of their "service"(i doubt the meaning of this word applies at this juncture), they would start exclaiming and proclaiming to the whole world how many days or months or even hours and minutes they have left.
Usually, this "towards the end" is far from the truth.
It can start at varying time periods, ranging from 1 year to 6 months depending on the extremity of one's delusional syndrome.
However, I do have a problem with this.
Why the **** are these people so proud of their ORD when they have done and gained absolutely nothing?
Do they mean that they are so happy that they finally wasted 2 beautiful years of their youth and showed the people they worked with how incompetent and how shitty a person they can be?
I think they do, considering that they are proclaiming as if they had accomplished an arduous task over the past 2 years.

Sarcasm aside, I share a contrasting viewpoint.
One that is intolerant of the above mindset, one that despises it.
To me, NS is more than a stepping stone in life.
It is a golden transitional phase which will determine who you turn out to be.
For many, we pop straight into NS after we are done with a major segment of our education.
After NS, its either further education or thats it you are ready to begin with your life(either you work or u rot and die thats your life).
The sheltered walls of the school compound is not going to protect you anymore for the latter.
Nonetheless, no matter the former or latter, adulthood awaits upon the completion of NS.
Hence, it goes to say that if you are going to adopt a shitty attitude in NS its highly likely thats who you are going to be in life.
People who usually think that NS is just an obstacle they need to pull themselves through with a shitty attitude and that they will perform better in life when they get to do something they like out there are often in self-denial.
How often do one gets what he wants or rather the job of their dreams in life?

My belief states that NS is a critical learning experience in life.
It is a golden opportunity to experience as much (hardship) as possible and to gain as much as possible.
For as bad it may appear to be, it is still conducted within an "enclosed" environment.
One that allows one to make mistakes and to learn from it.
There are many "hidden" teaching points in place to nurture the individual and empower him for what lies head.
For example, the leadership and follower roles in NS are usually appointed based on qualifications and capabilities.
This mimics the nature of the working world, the managerial and executive positions are helm by people of better academic credentials.
In NS these managerial and executive potentials are exposed to leadership opportunities which would be beneficial to their future.
For the followers, they too learn to work hard, to overcome adversity and to best the at what they do.
For those who screw this chance up, thats not my problem.
Cos I chose to embrace this opportunity and to reap as much from it as possible.
